Sono state annunciate le candidature degli Eisner Awards 2026, che confermano alcune tendenze ormai sempre più evidenti nel panorama fumettistico internazionale.

A dominare la lista delle nomination è ancora una volta DC Comics, che raccoglie 16 candidature principali, a cui si aggiungono altre 10 condivise. Un risultato trainato soprattutto dal successo della linea “Absolute”, con Absolute Martian Manhunter che ottiene sei nomination complessive e Absolute Batman che ne conquista cinque.

Alle spalle della casa editrice di Burbank si piazzano Image Comics, con 12 candidature principali più nove condivise, e Fantagraphics con 14 nomination complessive. Seguono Abrams con nove candidature, Drawn & Quarterly con sei, IDW/Top Shelf con cinque più otto condivise e Random House con cinque. La Marvel è in coda con solo 3 nomination più 5 condivise.

Tra gli autori più presenti spicca Deniz Camp, che ottiene cinque nomination personali grazie al lavoro svolto su diverse serie. Seguono James Tynion IV con quattro candidature e autori come Juni Ba, Javier Rodriguez, Jesse Lonergan, Linnea Sterte, Kelly Thompson ed Eric Zawadski, tutti presenti in tre categorie.

Per quanto riguarda le opere, oltre ai già citati titoli della linea “Absolute”, si mettono in evidenza anche Assorted Crisis Events con cinque candidature e Department of Truth con quattro. Tre nomination ciascuna invece per Drome e A Garden of Spheres.

Per l’Italia segnaliamo la presenza di Werther Dell’Edera, Mattia De Iulis, Elia Bonetti, Chiara Mestieri e Francesco Francavilla.

Gli Eisner Awards rappresentano da decenni uno dei riconoscimenti più prestigiosi del fumetto internazionale, premiando opere, graphic novel, webcomic e professionisti dell’industria. Le votazioni sono riservate agli operatori del settore accreditati.

I vincitori saranno proclamati il 24 luglio durante il San Diego Comic-Con, nel corso della tradizionale cerimonia di gala ospitata al San Diego Hilton Bayfront Hotel.

Nella notte del 25 luglio, il San Diego Comic-Con ha ospitato la cerimonia degli Eisner Awards 2025, i massimi riconoscimenti del fumetto americano. La serata ha celebrato il meglio della produzione dell'ultimo anno, decretando i suoi vincitori tra autori affermati e nuovi talenti, in un'edizione che ha visto primeggiare la DC Comics per numero di premi e ha consacrato Gene Luen Yang come autore dell'anno.

Lo sceneggiatore, infatti, si è aggiudicato ben tre premi, tra cui quello prestigiosissimo come Miglior Scrittore per il suo lavoro su Lunar New Year Love Story (edito in Italia da Tunué con il titolo Un anno per amarti). La sua opera ha conquistato anche il premio come Miglior Graphic Novel Inedito, segnando uno dei momenti più significativi della cerimonia.

Anche per l'Italia è stata una notte da ricordare. Il disegnatore Giulio Macaione ha vinto il premio per la Migliore Storia Breve grazie al suo lavoro su Spaces, realizzata insieme allo scrittore Phil Jimenez per l'antologia DC Pride 2024. Un riconoscimento importante che premia il talento di un artista italiano su un palcoscenico internazionale di primissimo piano.

A livello di case editrici, è stata DC Comics a raccogliere il maggior numero di premi, con 5 statuette, confermando un'annata di grande successo. A seguire, con 4 premi a testa, si sono distinte Fantagraphics, First Second e IDW Publishing, a testimonianza della vitalità e della diversità del mercato.
